				<h3>Fisher School of Pharmacy receives $1.4 million grant</h3>
				<p>The Wegmans School of Pharmacy at St. John Fisher College has received a $1.4 million grant to outfit laboratory facilities and equipment, college officials announced Wednesday. The grant was awarded from the Higher Education Capital Matching Grants Program, which is administered by the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York. The funds will be used to outfit a cell culture laboratory, pharmaceutics/analytical laboratory and pharmacy practice laboratory with new equipment.</p>

				<h3>Berkshire Bank announces $2 million in grants</h3>
				<p>Berkshire Bank Foundation awarded a total of $1,518,133 in grants to non-profit organizations in Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut and Vermont during 2014, the bank said Thursday in a news release. The grants supported important education and community development initiatives as well as health and human service and cultural programs. In addition, Berkshire Bank provided $500,622 in community sponsorships, raising Berkshire's total contributions in the community to over $2 </p>

				<h3>Eastlake, Mentor among communities getting grants to clean up Lake Erie shoreline</h3>
				<p>Eastlake and Mentor will share in a state grant program designed to spruce up the Lake Erie shoreline. In Eastlake, its $1,017 grant will go toward twice weekly litter pick-up and cleanup of the Eastlake-CEI seawall fishing access site, located at the end of Erie Road. This cleanup will be conducted by community service participants. With financial assistance, the city of Eastlake will pay for supplies and disposal fees.</p>

				<h3>Orange Beach Arts Center gets grants</h3>
				<p>A grant of $3000, awarded to The Hot Shop, will provide financial assistance for artists’ fees and hot glass studio expenses involved with the Glass Art Educational Programs including workshops, classes and demonstrations. The Hot Shop educational programs incorporate the science and art of glass blowing. Local and regional field trips and classes of elementary, high school and college students allow The Hot Shop to spark the minds and imaginations of all ages.</p>

				<h3>Vanderhoef: $2.6 M in Block Grants Awarded</h3>
				<p>County Executive C. Scott Vanderhoef and Director of Community Development Joe Abate met Tuesday morning to announce the recipients of the 2012 Community Development Block Grant Awards. $2,656,071 in HUD (Housing and Urban Development) grants were awarded to Rockland not-for-profit organizations, towns and villages that provide social services, housing, and revitalization and improvement programs for Rockland residents in lower-to-moderate income brackets.</p>

				<h3>Fed Grants Awarded To Begin Addressing Bullying And Safe Schools</h3>
				<p>The U.S. Department of Education announced Oct. 5 the awarding of $38.8 million in grants to 11 states from a new Safe and Supportive School program. The timing comes just days after a media blitz about the suicides of six teenagers, at least four of whom were bullied for being gay or being perceived as gay. But anybody who knows Washington knows Tuesday’s grants weren’t made in reaction to the recent news</p>

				<h3>Arts grants awarded</h3>
				<p>The Jackson County Cultural Coalition, funded by the Oregon Cultural Trust, will give $17,000 in grants to 16 cultural organizations at its annual awards ceremony 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, in the large meeting room at the Medford library. In addition to the awards ceremony, Ballet Folklorico Ritmo Alegre will perform and students at Sams Valley Elementary will display artwork. Awards will be given to the following groups. Ashland Gallery Association will get $950 to help purchase art materials and supplies for Ashland High School students and for volunteer artists exhibiting in Ashland Gallery Association galleries.</p>
