                In the last 40 years we have seen a number of technological advancements in our society. It is a startling realization that the teenagers that are graduating from high school now have never known a television with a dial, a rotary phone, or a typewriter.  Additionally, these teens have never known life without a cellular phone or a computer. Depending on whom you ask, when you ask them, and whether the latest technology "is doing what it is supposed to be doing", you will likely hear an individual remark that they would not know what to do without their iphone, flat screen television, or airbook. Although technology is an amazing accomplishment, technology and technological advancements are costly. Technology grants are offered by the federal and state governments and by private foundations in an effort to assist in defraying these costs.</p>
                <p>A number of technology grants are currently available to middle and high school students for the conceptualization and creation of new innovative technologies. For example the Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association Exploravision Program is currently soliciting proposals for a technology grant for the development of an innovative technology that could exist in 20 years in the form of a $10,000 US bond.                 <p>Teachers and educational institutions that can demonstrate a need for technological services or programs or those that have shown excellence in their programming have an opportunity to obtain a technology grant. For example Intel honors one high school, one middle school, and one elementary school that demonstrates excellence in math and science and names the school an Intel School of Distinction and makes technology grant awards to these schools. Each selected school is awarded a cash technology grant in the amount of $10,000 and a $100,000 in-kind technology grant that includes products and services from their sponsors.                 <p>Hospitals, which use technology to save patients' lives every day, are also eligible to receive technology grants from the federal government. Technology grants in hospitals can range from equipment to technical assistance. The US Department and Health and Human Services (HHS) recently held a solicitation for a technology grant for the establishment and continual operation of existing Health Information Technology Regional Extension Centers that offer technical assistance to assist health care providers in their efforts to effectively use and master the Electronic Health Records (EHRs).                 <p>Whether you are a student, a teacher or school administrator, or you are a hospital administrator there very well may be a technology grant that could assist in your in efforts. When you have located the technology grant that you believe is best matched with your interests, lesson plans, or your mission the single most important thing to remember is to follow the directions in the request for proposal. Most proposals, to include technology grant proposals, are declined funding due to being incomplete.</p>
