    <h2>Writing Your Proposal</h2>
    <p><em>Good writing will not save a bad idea, but bad writing can kill a good one, especially when funds are tight.</em></p>
	<p><strong>You can prepare for writing your proposal by taking these precautions:</strong></p>
    	<ul type="disc">
			<li>Acquire a notebook and start jotting down your ideas.</li>
			<li>Begin to describe the parts of your project that you believe the grantor will be most impressed with, based on the RFP guidelines.</li>
			<li>Jot down key words and phrases used in the grantor's RFP.</li>
		</ul>
	<p>As you commence with the actual writing of the proposal, get in the practice of proofreading everything that you write.</p>
	<h3>Criteria by Which Grantors Judge Your Proposal</h3>
	<p><strong>Once your proposal makes it past the preliminary evaluations, it is then subjected to further screenings by the grantor.  Make sure that your proposal addresses these questions:</strong></p>
    <ul type="disc">
    	<li>Does your proposal address an important problem?</li>
    	<li>Does this problem require an immediate remedy?</li>
    	<li>Can the proposed remedy produce tangible and useful results?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal offer the best solution to the problem in comparison to other approved proposals?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal provide sufficient information to support your ideas?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal clearly describe the work to be done to render the expected results?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal explain how you will evaluate your project's success?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal demonstrate your knowledge of prior attempts on the part of others to address this problem?</li>
    	<li>How is your proposal different from previous attempts to address this problem?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal demonstrate a concern for cost-effectiveness?</li>
    	<li>Does your proposal contain cost-reduction strategies?</li>
	</ul>
        <h3>Reasons Why Grant Proposals are Denied</h3>
	<p><strong>The main reasons why funding sources reject grant proposals are as follows:</strong></p>
    <ul type="disc">
		<li>The proposal does not clearly answer any or all the areas addressed in the RFP.</li>
		<li>The proposal requests more funds than are provided for in the RFP.</li>
		<li>The proposal does not clearly describe the problems, project goals, solution, and/or how they will be achieved.</li>
		<li>The proposal lacks a history of accomplishments or related work in the field on the part of the grant seeking organization.</li>
		<li>The proposal requests funds for a project that is typically not funded by the grantor.</li>
		<li>The proposal is poorly presented and articulated.</li>
		<li>The proposal lacks sufficient details or new ideas.</li>
		<li>The proposal does not demonstrate that the grantseeker has enough experience, resources and/or tools to successfully complete the project.</li>
		<li>The proposal omits important information that is required in the RFP.</li>
		<li>The proposal does not follow the RFP grant format submission requirements</li>
