                Foundation government grants can take on two forms. On one hand foundation government grants are foundations that are formed by the federal government as an independent government agency, on the other hand some foundation government grants are offered by private foundations to support government education programs. Foundation governmental grants are offered to provide assistance to individuals pursuing an education in US government and in an effort to provide foundation support to address certain issues deemed important by the federal government.</p>
                <p>Foundation government grants that are offered by independent government agencies are offered to assist individuals in pursuing activities aligned with specific initiatives that the federal government has deemed of interest. As an example, the National Science Foundation (NSF) was created in 1950 with the mission "to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense�". A current foundation government grant offered by NSF, ADVANCE: Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers (ADVANCE) is open and available specifically to women who meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the National Science Foundation.                 <p>Additionally, the NSF is currently directly soliciting proposals for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) foundation government grant, which encompasses a unique opportunity that allows small businesses to develop a proposal that demonstrates an innovative approach to conducting research in a defined area that has been pre-determined by the federal government.
