Virtual Smart Agent - Installation Instructions

Requirements:
 - PHP version 4.1.0+
 - MySQL version 3.23+
 - Apache (general Unix-based) hosting

STEP 1: Create database
-----------------------------------------------

You first need to create a database. Login to
your hosting control panel and create a new
database and assign a user to your database.

STEP 2: Upload
-----------------------------------------------

Unzip the compressed zip file you received when
you ordered. You will require a zip utility 
installed on your computer to unzip the contents
of that file. You can download and install
a free zip utility at: http://www.zipgenius.it

Upload the entire unzipped folder to your
website using an ftp program. If you do not 
have ftp software, you can download and
install a free one here: http://www.smartftp.com

Make the following folder writable (CHMOD 707 or
777 depending on server configuration)

vsa/modfiles/

STEP 3: Install
-----------------------------------------------

Run the install.php script on your server. Simply
type the following address into your web
browser's address bar:

http://www.youwebsite.com/vsa/install.php 

AND ... replace 'yourwebsite' with your actual
website address.

Next, enter in your database details and follow
the instructions on that page.

Upgrading
-------------------

If you already have an earlier version installed,
VSA will detect an earlier version and give you
the option to do a "New installation" or an
"Upgrade installation".

If you are installing a new version and want to 
retain all your current statistical data and
campaign data, then select the "Update Installation"
option.

STEP 4: Configure
----------------------------------------------- 

Next you need to delete the install.php file
from your web server.

After you install, a sample campaign is created
and the campaign is set in test mode. 

You need to configure your agent display and
update your agent messages, then set your 
campaign not to be in test mode.

Then insert the agent code into the webpage
you want the agent to appear.

And insert the sale code into the product
download page. This is the webpage page your 
customer is redirected to after they purchase
your product.
