<h1>Minorities</h1>
<p>Grant monies are available in abundance for those individuals and families who are members of minorities. There is free governmental and private foundation financial assistance available to people who fit into minority categories. For purposes of this classification, we shall limit the term �minority� to refer to members of a minority ethnicity living within one of the 50 states. </p>
<p>There are minority grants available for almost everything under the sun � there are minority grants for people who want to become bi-lingual teachers; there are monies available for white students who want to attend black colleges; there are government grants available for students who are a minimum of one-quarter American Indian heritage; there are grants for minorities who wish to attend college on a full or part-time basis; there are monies for American Indians who want to become health care professionals, and many more.</p>
<p>There is financial assistance available for minorities in the realm of business, real estate/ first time homebuyers and education. For purposes of this category, while all minority ethnicities are included in these grants, we shall pay special attention to grants offered to African-American, Hispanic, Asian and American Indian populations.</p>

<p>Many members of minorities still find it difficult to fill out the necessary forms in order to garner financial assistance for school, for housing and for business. These groups have fought for years to get on an equal footing with those in the majority. Now that they finally are approaching equality, they have to struggle through the grant application process. To help get you started in your search for financial assistance in education, housing and real estate, please take note of these tips:</p>

<li>When searching for grants, make a list of those grants that you are interested in. </li>
<li>Take your time and fill out the application fully and properly. Have someone check over your application before you submit it. Remember, if you do not provide accurate and complete information on the application, you will be deemed ineligible for the financial assistance and grant.</li>
<li>Attach all proofs that are requested in the application. If it is an online application, you can scan the documents and submit them with your application.</li>
</ul>
<p>One of the best sources for grants for minorities is the U.S. Government. It doesn�t hurt that we have a minority member as President of the United States of America. All you need to do is log onto <a href="http://www.grants.gov" target="_blank">www.grants.gov</a>, and type in the term that is most appropriate for what you are looking for, such as Minority Education Tuition, or Minority Housing, or Minority-Owned business Assistance. The assistance is available for you � you just need to know where to find it!</p>

<li>The Richard D. Hailey ATLA Law Student Scholarships offer tuition scholarship assistance to first and second year African-American, Hispanic, Asian-American, Indian-American and Bi-Racial ATLA law student members based on financial need. You will need to submit a 500 word essay and give references, and you must demonstrate a dedication and commitment to ATLA and its mission. <li>Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Grants provide grants to institutions of higher education to prepare low-income, first-generation minority students for graduate study. <li>Division of Health Careers Diversity Grants for minority students for eligible health professions schools to assist full-time, financially needy, minorities to pursue a career in osteopathic medicine, dentistry, podiatry, pharmacy or veterinary medicine. <li>Scholarships for Minority Health Profession Students for attendance at eligible schools for the purpose of providing scholarships for students who have financial need, academic accreditation, and are enrolled in health profession or nursing programs. Funds will be awarded to schools of medicine, osteopathic medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, pharmacy, veterinary medicine, nursing, public health, dental hygiene, medical laboratory technology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, radiologic technology and programs in clinical psychology. <li>The Higher Education Multicultural Scholars Program is designed to increase the ethnic and cultural diversity of the food and agricultural, scientific, and professional work force, and to advance the educational achievement of minority Americans. Money is funded to needy and deserving students through funding given to colleges and universities that have demonstrated a capacity to attract, educate and graduate minority students for careers as professionals in the aforementioned areas of endeavor. <li>The State of Arkansas offers minority teachers up to $5000 if they are working toward a teaching certificate. Participants must teach in the State of Arkansas for a period of time no less than three years to be eligible. <li><a href="http://www.stimulus.state.gov" target="_blank">www.stimulus.state.gov</a> is currently offering unique educational opportunities for minorities. Check with the state of your choice for information on the minority educational program assistance.</li>
<li>Indian Adult Education is authorized under the Snyder Act of 1921. The object is to improve the educational opportunities for Indian adults who lack the literacy skills necessary for effective citizenship and productive employment, and to encourage the establishment of adult education programs through direct payments for specified use. <li>Indian Vocational Training assists individual Indians to obtain a marketable skill through vocational training at the United Tribes Technical College in Bismarck, North Dakota. <li>Indian Higher Education Grant Program provides financial aid to eligible Indian students to enable them to attend accredited institutions of higher learning through project grants. The Bureau of Indian Affairs scholarship program provides 25% of the student�s total financial aid. <li>Indian Graduate Student Scholarships are provided by the Bureau of Indian Affairs through financial aid to eligible Indian students in order that they can obtain advanced degrees through project grants which may be used to defray the cost of obtaining a graduate degree. Applicants must be Indian students who are members of Federally recognized Indian Tribes, have been admitted to a graduate program, and have unmet financial needs. Applicants should contact the American Indian Graduate Center which administers the program on behalf of the Bureau of Indian Affairs at <em>(202) 208-3478</em>.
<li>Hispanic Scholarship Fund is part of the State Farm Insurance Foundation. This company has assisted Hispanic college students since 1990. Each year, the State Farm insurance Company funds 25 scholarships for Hispanic students pursuing a career in the teaching profession. <li>Siemens Teacher Scholarships, in collaboration with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, provides one million dollars in scholarships for black undergraduate and graduate students majoring in education and enrolled in traditionally and historically black colleges and universities. <li>2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act has made the purchase of real estate and first time buyer opportunities for minorities available at unbeatable deals. <li>Federal Funds are available right now for minorities. You can access the information at <a href="http://www.cfda.gov" target="_blank">www.cfda.gov</a>. </li>
<li>Local Monies are available for minorities on a county level, especially for closing costs, down payment costs and renovations to foreclosed properties. <li>State Funds are available for minorities for home purchasing assistance and for first time buyer grants. Follow the protocol of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and insert the state of your choice.</li>

<li>Federal Assistance is available through thousands of non-profit organizations that are ready, willing and able to help you buy a home or invest in real estate. <li>Educational Homeowner Assistance provides learning tools and information about owning a home in order to be successful. These agencies that provide you with the educational wherewithal to succeed as homeowners are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. You can locate the Housing Counseling Center closest to you by calling <em>1-800-569-4287</em>. </li>
<li>Money for Urban Renewal Homes is available for minority individuals and families. This program is intended to increase the number of low and moderate income home owners. Log onto <a href="http://www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/rrfh/progdesc/progdesc.cfm" target="_blank">www.hud.gov/offices/hsg/rrfh/progdesc/progdesc.cfm</a> for details and application.</li>
<li>Community Action Partnership is a group that will provide you with non-profit agencies throughout the country that cater to minorities and will help you to find assistance in buying a home or purchasing some real estate property. You can access this group by logging onto <a href="http://www.communityactionprogram.com" target="_blank">www.communityactionprogram.com</a>. </li>
<li>The AmeriDreamCharity will pay 5% of your down payment costs through its AmeriDream Downpayment Gift Program, if you are a member of a minority race. <li>Home Ownership for Everyone (HOPE) assists low-income people from minority races to buy public housing by providing them funds through non-profit agencies, resident groups and other eligible grantees to establish home ownership programs. These grants can be used to help low income families become self-sufficient through home ownership, which can build pride for neighborhoods. The funds can be used for economic development, including job training and other activities that provide self-sufficiency. There is financial assistance in the form of grants for closing costs, down payment costs and renovations to foreclosed properties. The applicants can also receive grants for administrative costs, legal fees and architectural and engineering work, and they are eligible for buyer counseling and training. <li>The Dollar Home Sale Program provides technical assistance to minority non-profits to build homes in rural areas. You can locate the program in the CFDA under Program 10.420.</li>
<li>Teacher Next Door Program is open to minority teachers who are looking to live in low and moderate income neighborhoods. The program is designed to strengthen communities by encouraging public and private school teachers to live in these neighborhoods. This program is 14.310 in the CFDA. </li>
<li>Officer Next Door Program is open to minority members of law enforcement agencies who are looking to live in low and moderate income neighborhoods. The purpose of this program is to improve the quality of life in these neighborhoods through the presence of these law enforcement officers. The program is 14.198 in the CFDA.</li>
<li>The Farm Labor Housing Grants Program helps minority families and individuals to obtain decent, safe and sanitary low-rent housing and related facilities for minority farm workers.</li>
<li>The Self-Help Ownership Opportunity Program encourages minority innovative homeownership opportunities through a provision for self-help housing in which the minority homebuyer contributes a significant amount of physical labor toward the construction of his or her home. The program is 14.247 in the CFDA.</li>
<li>Healthy Homes Demonstration Grants provide homeowner minorities with financial assistance in order to promote cost-effective, preventive measures to correct multiple safety and health hazards in the home that may produce serious diseases and injuries to children of low income minority families. The program is 14.901 in the CFDA.</li>
<li>Very Low Income Housing Repair Grants are available to minorities in that financial caategory in rural areas to repair, improve or modernize their living quarters or to remove health and safety hazards. This program is 14.017 in the CFDA.</li>
